“Food Forward was born out of the very simple idea that we need to create a bridge between the abundance of food we have and the people who need that food,” outreach and communications director, Laura Jellum tells us. Ten years on and the program has successfully diverted over sixty million pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables, which would have ended up in landfills, to eighteen hundred hunger relief agencies across Southern California. “There is plenty of healthy food available, especially in our region, and we make it our mission to make that food accessible to those who need it,” says Jellum.
