Tip Jar

“Every 2 or 3 weeks, a techguy accidentally invents the concept of the city bus” goes the oft-repeated tweet from @boring_as_heck.

Sometimes the nonprofit world can feel like the tech world. There are so many charities that start up all the time and each one purports to be changing the world, but often what they’re doing is disruption for the sake of disruption rather than fixing real problems. In this environment, we agree with Meghan Litchfield, founder of RedThread, that sometimes the oldest organizations are the ones worth supporting. Founded in 1998, Dress For Success has a proven track record in achieving their core mission of empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the tools to help them thrive.

Through programs such as their workwear boutiques, which are staffed with volunteers who help women choose an outfit and provide guidance and support for their upcoming interviews, to career mentorship and help with financial planning, DFS has helped countless women forge rewarding careers over the last twenty-two years.
